Veteran Marathi actor Jayant Savarkar, who was also popular for his roles in Singham and Rocky Handsome, passed away on Monday. He was 87 years old. His son Kaustubh confirmed the news and said that his father was admitted to the hospital 10-15 days back due to age-related problems.
”About 10-15 days ago he was admitted to a hospital in Thane due to low blood pressure. His health suddenly deteriorated last night. “He was put on ventilator and died around 11 am due to age-related complications,” Kaustubh told PTI.
His last rites will be held on Tuesday morning. He is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters.

He started his career in Marathi theater and was a backstage artist. He has also acted in several Hindi and Marathi television and films in his six-decade-long career.
Some of his popular films include Gadbad Gondhal, Bakal, Vaastav, Singham and Hariom Vithala.
A few months ago, he was awarded the Jeevan Gaurav Award by the Ambernath Marathi Film Festival.
He has also received the Natvarya Prabhakar Panshikar Lifetime Achievement Award from the Government of Maharashtra.
