Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’ is one of the movies that still acts as a topic of discussion months after the release. This 2023 blockbuster hit, which earned more than Rs 90 crores at the box office, has been criticised for its misogynistic and violent content. In a recent award show, actor Siddharth also made a comment about the film indirectly. Adding to the conversation is Vidya Balan, who called ‘Animal’ an output of conviction.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Vidya said that Conviction is a game-changer here. The actress mentioned how long we have said that content is king. But according to her, great content can be told unconvincingly. She quoted ‘Animal’ as a great example of that. Vidya further added that she did not mean it as bad content, but the makers and crew were unapologetic and not second-guessing. It was unabashedly gathered, and it worked really well. She feels that telling a story unapologetically is important.
