VISAKHAPATNAM: In the wake of abduction and rescue of Vizag MP’s relative and his friend, City Police is now focusing on them rowdy sheets Above about 600 in Greater Visakha.
About 120 of these are considered active in the city.
It is recalled that Vizag city was horrified by gang wars of rowdy chadars five years ago as gangs like Podugu Kiran, Khasim, Chitti Mamu and others were involved in gang wars. Extortion and murders by rowdy chadors were very rare in the city, but killings of rowdy chadars have been on the rise in the last few years.
A senior police officer said the city has 620 rioters on paper. But around 150 are active in various illegal activities and are considered ‘A’ category miscreants. The other 250 were either involved in two to five cases or were involved in a series of minor cases and were regarded as ‘B’ category nuisance sheeters. Remaining above 200 rowdy sheeters are inactive old persons or once active and now engaged in odd jobs.
out of 22 police stations In the city, One Town, Two Town, Kancharapalem, PM Palem, Gajuwaka, and others will have more rowdy chadars. On an average, there will be about 30 to 40 unruly sheeters in the register of every police station. The numbers would be higher where the slum areas and population at large were high.
“Most of the rowdy people are fighting on the road after drinking alcohol. There are less number of rowdy sheeters who are involved in settlements or extortion,” said one of the senior police officers. Indeed, rowdy sheet Hemant Had attended counseling on Sunday and was involved in Tuesday’s kidnapping. His associate Rajesh made arrangements for the rest of the accused Sai.
