Russia’s Commander Igor Girkin has warned that there could be a military coup against Russian President Vladimir Putin and that this coup could be carried out by the Wagner Group. In fact, Yevgeny Prigozhin, head of Russia’s private army Wagner Group, has recently threatened that he may withdraw his troops from Bakhmut in Ukraine. Prigozhin alleges that his soldiers are not getting any help from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Russian commander gave this warning

According to media reports, Russian commander Igor Girkin said that Prigozhin has publicly criticized the Russian Defense Ministry. Igor said that as Prigozhin was saying that he would withdraw his troops from the front, if he did so without consulting the high command, it would be considered a direct military mutiny. Igor also said that if Prigozhin withdraws his troops from the front, it could prove disastrous for Russia. The Wagner Group chief has been openly critical of Russia’s military leadership.

Prigozhin has been close to Putin

Let us tell you that Yevgeny Prigozhin, who is being accused of launching a military coup against Putin, has once been Putin’s special. Prigozhin is very popular among Russian fundamentalists for his fanatical image. Putin is also facing criticism for the protracted war in Ukraine. In such a situation, Prigozhin is emerging as a powerful leader.

Fierce fighting is now raging in Bakhmut in the Russo-Ukrainian War. The Russian army appears to be weakening after an initial advance at Bakhmut. Ukrainian forces on the ground are overwhelming Russia, but Russia is bombarding Ukrainian military targets with airstrikes.
