Vladimir Putin thanks PM Modi for organizing SCO summit, appreciates India’s chairmanship

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin today virtually addressed the summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for organizing the summit and appreciated the work done by India under his chairmanship .

He said, “I would like to thank PM Modi for organizing this summit. The strategic partnership with India will be enhanced by the implementation of many documents and decisions prepared for this summit.”

He said Moscow supports the New Delhi Declaration which gives a unified approach to international issues.

Putin said, “Russia supports the New Delhi Declaration which gives a unified approach to international issues. We will continue to strengthen ties with SCO member states.”

Speaking further, Putin also referred to Ukraine and said that, for quite some time, external forces had been running a project aimed at turning Ukraine into “a hostile state, anti-Russia”.

“In effect, a hybrid war is being waged against us, which includes illegal sanctions on Russia on an unprecedented scale. I would like to point out that Russia has been and will continue to confidently counter external pressure, sanctions and provocative provocations.” The Russian head of state insisted.

President Vladimir Putin told the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit that, for quite some time, external forces had been running a project aimed at turning Ukraine into “a hostile state, anti-Russia”. To the Russian news agency, TASS.

He also said, “Another focus of the SCO is the current situation in Afghanistan. Sadly, the situation is not getting better. The SCO’s priority should be combating terrorism, radicalism, extremism and drug trafficking.”

The SCO Summit chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded with the virtual participation of the Heads of State of all SCO countries.

India assumed the rotating chairmanship of SCO at the Samarkand Summit of SCO on 16 September last year. The theme of India’s chairmanship of SCO in 2023 is ‘Secure-SCO’.

Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif and Chinese President Xi Jinping were among others who attended the summit.
