Shilpa Shetty revealed that chakki chalasana strengthens the arms, improves digestion and increases the flexibility of the back and hamstring muscles.

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty is known to be a fitness enthusiast. Her passion for holistic wellness and indulging in traditional culinary methods is not new. So, when the actress was in Rajasthan recently, she showcased her passion for old-school methods and opted for “going back to the roots” and grinding using a traditional chakki and sharing the benefits of doing chakki chalasana.

A look at Shilpa Shetty’s online diaries and you would know that she swears by Yoga. It is quite obvious that when the fitness diva spotted an age-old stone grinder, aka, chakki, she showcased the ancient practice of grinding wheat to make flour. She shared a delightful video of herself on Instagram, where she can be seen wearing a chick black turtleneck top, light-coloured trousers and white sneakers. The video begins with a local woman operating the chakki. Inspired by this, the actress quite enthusiastically displayed her excitement about using the chakki.

Shilpa Shetty sat down and began the task of grinding the grains, a few at a time and looked immensely happy about it. The actress also humorously added that by doing this, she would quickly be able to digest her Makka rotis.

Her caption reads, “During my recent visit to Rajasthan when I saw a chakki, I knew I had to do it. And, oh my God! What a workout!” She further shared information regarding the benefits of the Chakki Chalasana. She revealed that it strengthens the arms, improves digestion, stimulates the reproductive organs and increases the flexibility of the back and hamstring muscles. A part of her caption reads, “Going back to your roots and working the actual chakki also gives you immense respect for the people who do it regularly.” But being the fitness guru that she is for many and the responsibility that comes with it, Shilpa also cautioned her fans to avoid doing this asana if they have back pain, or suffer from slip-disc and during pregnancy.
