Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Friday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Digital India, asserting that it was ahead of its time and has now become a global model.

The praise came after Pichai held brief talks with the prime minister along with other top US tech CEOs in Washington.

The Indian-American executive of the US tech giant, who last met Modi in December, shared with the Prime Minister that Google is investing USD 10 billion in India’s Digitization Fund.

“We shared with the Prime Minister that Google is investing USD 10 billion in India’s Digitization Fund. And we’re continuing to invest through it, including in companies that work in AI,” he said.

Pichai also announced that Google is bringing the company’s generative AI chatbot Bard to more Indian languages ​​very soon.

He shared that Google is opening its Global Fin-Tech Operation Center in GIFT City, Gujarat. “With UPI and Aadhaar, it will strengthen India’s fintech leadership. We are going to build on the foundation and take it globally,” he said.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said PM Modi invited Pichai to explore more avenues of cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, fintech and cyber security.
