‘We are not worried, Sharad Pawar’s name enough for us to win voter support’ | Pune News – Times of India

PUNE/ NASHIK: MLA Rohit Pawar on Wednesday said that his granduncle Sharad Pawar‘s name is enough to get voters’ support.
“When the NCP was formed in 1999, nobody knew about the new party or its symbol. Voters knew Sharad Pawar and they voted for him. It will be the same now where people will support him ,” he said.
Taking a dig at NCP leader Ajit Pawar and his group, Rohit said that they were elected because they were with Sharad Pawar.”They have got the party’s name and symbol but the person who formed NCP is with us. We are not at all bothered,” he added.
The Karjat Jamkhed MLA called the EC an additional wing of the BJP.
“Those in power are appointing officials in the poll panel who are making unconstitutional decisions. If this continues, the constitution will be in danger. But, we will fight to save it,” he said.
Former finance minister Jayant Patil, who is with Sharad Pawar, has told party workers to not be “disheartened” by the decision and go go all out to defeat the opposition in the Lok Sabha polls.
He addressed them in six assembly segments of Ahmednagar Lok Sabha constituency, a traditional BJP stronghold.
Accusing the Eknath Shinde-led coalition govt of failing to live up to people’s expectations, Patil described the law and order situation in the state as “worse” than Bihar’s.
“A BJP MLA shoots at and injures a Shiv Sena member, another partner of the same govt, inside a police station. This speaks volume about the law and order situation in the state. This MLA, who is critical of the CM, belongs to the party which has 105 MLAs. He has accused Shinde and his Lok Sabha MP son, Shrikant of being corrupt. Should the government not investigate these issues?” he said.
