Belagavi: Monsoon continues to be deficient in most parts of Belagavi district but it is raining continuously. Maharashtra field, river Dark woman And its tributaries in the district are receiving rainwater, causing inflow and outflow into the reservoirs.
According to sources, Hipparagi barrage on Krishna river is receiving a large amount of water and Hidkal reservoir on Ghataprabha river and Neviltirtha reservoir on Malaprabha river is getting little water. Chikodi Assistant Commissioner Madhav Gitte along with the NDRF team visited and inspected the riverside villages of Chikodi and Kagwad taluks.
It’s been a month since monsoon started but Krishna hasn’t got water yet. The shadow of the draft is hovering over Belagavi district. there was not Rain And the reservoirs were completely dry. Belagavi district received below normal rainfall during June. July started with some hope but the district is not getting rains as expected.
Due to good rains in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra region, water has started inflowing into the reservoirs. A large amount of water is flowing in the Krishna, Dudhganga and Ghataprabha rivers of the district. People and cattle struggling for drinking water have got relief.
Water is flowing into Krishna river from Rajpura barrage in Kolhapur district. The water level in the Hipparagi reservoir is 519.35 metres. According to KNL officials, the Hipparagi reservoir has 36% of the total water stored. So far 8,200 cusecs of water has been recorded and 5,000 cusecs of water is being released.
The amount of water in Ghataprabha river has increased a lot. On Wednesday, 154 cusecs of inflow was recorded in Hidkal reservoir. On Thursday it increased to 366 cusecs. Rains are continuing at Belagavi, Bailhongal, Savadatti and other places but water is yet to start flowing into Neviltirtha reservoir on Malaprabha river.

As heavy rains continued in Maharashtra and the Western Ghats, as a precautionary measure, Chikodi Assistant Commissioner Madhav Gitte held a meeting with members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Thursday.
Later, he along with the NDRF team visited and inspected the riverside villages of Chikodi and Kagwad taluks. NDRF team officer Sanjay Sinha and officers of Chikodi sub division accompanied him.
Orange alert has been issued for all the coastal districts as well as Belagavi and Dharwad districts on 7th July.
