WhatsApp has apologized after being reprimanded by the Union Minister for sharing the wrong map of India. WhatsApp has said that it apologizes for the unintentional mistake and will take care of it in future.
In fact, Meta-owned messaging app WhatsApp had shared a video from its Twitter handle, in which the map of India was wrongly shown. The portion of Jammu and Kashmir in the video was tampered with. Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar had reprimanded WhatsApp for this act of WhatsApp and asked to fix the video. Earlier too, the minister had slammed Eric Yuan, CEO of Zoom, for sharing the wrong map of India.
Union minister had warned of ban
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, while replying to WhatsApp’s video, said, “Dear WhatsApp, you are requested to correct the mistake of the map of India as soon as possible. All platforms that do business in India or want to continue doing business in India should Correct map should be used.
WhatsApp corrected the mistake
On the Union Minister’s tweet, WhatsApp corrected the mistake and tweeted that thanks for pointing out the unintended mistake. We have removed the video immediately, apologies. We will take care in future.
