Akshay Kumar has struggled his way to become one of the top superstars of Hindi cinema. His name was Rajeev Bhatia but he later changed his screen name to Akshay Kumar. His sister Alka Bhatia had once revealed that he always wanted to be a hero, by sharing a childhood anecdote.
In a throwback video, Akshay’s sister Alka shares an interesting childhood incident about the actor.She reminisces about his academic challenges and his ambitious declaration to their father about wanting to become a hero.
A few years back, on a popular talk show ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’, Alka was questioned about her memories of Akshay’s childhood by the host Farooq Shaikh. She replied, “I remember when he was in 7th standard, his marks weren’t good. So, Daddy got very angry. Daddy asked him, ‘If you don’t want to study, then what do you want to do in life?’ He got scared and said, ‘I can’t talk right now.’ So Daddy said, ‘Okay, write and tell me.’ So, he wrote that he wants to become a hero. Daddy said, ‘At this age, you want to become a hero? At least study something. You should know Hindi, English, something to speak.”
Akshay’s connection with his sister is genuinely touching. Celebrating Raksha Bandhan, he shared a nostalgic picture of them, accompanied by a heartfelt message. He captioned, “My go-to person when I’m in a dilemma, someone who’s always stood by my side, corrected me when I’m wrong, happiest for my achievements. The most selfless person I know, my sister Alka…I wouldn’t have been the person I am without you. #HappyRakshaBandhan.”
Currently, Akshay Kumar is preparing for the release of ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, co-starring Tiger Shroff, Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chhillar, Alaya F, and Prithviraj Sukumaran. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film is set to hit theaters on April 10, setting up a box office showdown against ‘Maidaan’ featuring Ajay Devgn, Priyamani, and Gajraj Rao.
