Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s romance was like no one else in Bollywood. After marrying Prakash Kaur and welcoming four children, Dharmendra fell in love with the dream girl of Bollywood in the 1970s. The couple got married and They had two daughters, Esha Deol, and Ahana Deol. While the family often shares pictures with Dharmendra, a few years ago Hema admitted that Dharmendra was not always available.
Speaking to Simi Garewal on her famous chat show, Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, Hema indicated that Dharmendra was kind enough to help her take her parenting decisions. “The only thing left is to make some decisions regarding the children. They don’t want you to be wrong anywhere. There comes a time when you need his support. He is always there to support. Whenever he is in Bombay, he comes to meet the children, stays with them and asks what they are doing and what their studies are.
While Dharmendra was a supportive father, Hema admitted that he was a protective and conservative person. “She is very particular about clothes, she always likes to be in salwar kameez. So, my daughters, as soon as they come, they will come wearing salwar kameez,” she said.
“Of my stage performances, they have not seen any of them, although it is very popular everywhere. Hema said, “He thinks I look very different on stage than anywhere else and I am not his, so he does not want to see.”
When Esha and Ahana joined Hema in the later part of the episode, the Dhoom actress also talked about Dharmendra’s conservative ideology. “We are not allowed to go out so often. Mom is there so we manage to go out for sports. We had to go out of Bombay for the state level, he said no, I did not go. He doesn’t like wearing our sleeveless tops and short pants. Whenever he comes home, we wear trousers or salwar kameez,” revealed Isha.
