During a recent interview, he revealed that he did not have the courage to tell his parents about his dreams of becoming an actor as Manoj’s mother used to beat him for watching movies in cinema halls.
The ‘Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai’ actor recalled that his father always wanted him to become a doctor. Speaking about the medical entrance exam, Manoj said that he had to give wrong answers because he was afraid of what would happen if he passed the entrance exam and became a doctor. Therefore, for the questions for which he knew the answers, he used to hide his face and mark anything. He felt that his dream of becoming an actor would never come true.

In the same interview, Manoj revealed that he once asked his father his views on cinema and actors. However, the small talk did not go well and he felt that he could not tell her about his ambitions to become an actor. Manoj feared that his parents would either abandon him or never allow him to leave the village.
Talking about how his mother used to beat him if he went to watch a film, Manoj Bajpai Recalls an incident when he went to watch a movie five days before the exam. When his parents came to meet him, they asked him where he was returning from. When Manoj said that he had gone to see the film, his mother got so angry that even his father could not save Manoj from his mother.
