DK Shivakumar, who is in the Chief Minister’s race in Karnataka, left for Delhi on Tuesday, a day after being called. The high command had called both DK and Siddaramaiah to Delhi on Monday itself. Siddaramaiah reached but DK did not go due to ill health and worship at home.

News agency ANI interviewed DK before his departure for Delhi. DK said that the party is like a mother, she fulfills every need of the child. The responsibilities are given by the party and if they are capable then they will get the responsibilities.

Question: How are you feeling?
DK: I am feeling happy Feeling proud.

Question: Are you feeling well today?

Question: Today you are going to Delhi, what is the programme?
DK: Will meet the party high command. I was called to Delhi yesterday, but did not go yesterday due to health and worship. Had not slept for the last 2-3 days.

Question: You always say that the party is your god?
DK: Certainly it is. We built this house and I’m not alone, I’m a part of it. Party is like mother. A mother gives everything that her child needs. If there is anyone, he is within the party. If someone becomes something, it becomes because of the Congress party.

Question: What are your expectations now?
DK: I do not want to comment on such things as to what happened earlier. That chapter is closed. We formed the government and we lost the government. who is responsible? Who is responsible for the victory and who is responsible for the defeat? It is not right to talk about it now. Now let’s talk about the future. The promise made to the people of Karnataka has to be fulfilled.

DK: See the Congress worker who hoisted the flag, who was present at the booth, who sought votes from the people. These people are leaders. They are the root and without the root there is no fruit.

Question: You always say that Sonia Gandhi is like your mother?
DK: There is no need to discuss much on this. She is our role model.

Question: Are you passionate about workers? Always standing with them, they want to see you CM?
DK: How can there be a leader in any party without workers. I don’t go into caste, group etc. I believe that Congress is family for all. It is not just for 10 sections. We have to take everyone along. Our constitution is important and we have to protect everyone’s interests.

DK: High command will decide.

Q: Are you not looking forward to getting more responsibilities?
DK: You talk about responsibility, she gives a party. Why should I worry If I am capable, I will get responsibilities.

Question: Are the MLAs also in support? Are you openly saying that you should be made the Chief Minister?
I do not want to alienate any MLA. Whether they are supporting or not. There is unity in our house. We have 135 seats and others are also there. Whether they like me or not. I am a party president. I am a responsible person and I have to see everyone in one eye. This is the ideology of Congress.

Why should I cross the party line? I will not cheat nor will I blackmail. Those who have it in their culture, let them do it and enjoy it. I don’t want to be wrongly recorded in history. One who is born has to die some day or the other. I don’t want to go with the wrong things.
