Why is your iPhone battery draining after the iOS 16.5 update?

Many iPhone users have complained that their iPhone’s battery is dying soon after new iOS 16.5 Updates. Users have flooded the Apple Forums and Twitter with complaints and questions about the new battery drain issue.

A user complained on the Apple Forums, “The battery drain is getting worse. I turn off my phone while sleeping, the moment I boot it up, it shows 20%, after entering a password and loading every notification.” After doing this it immediately went down by 2%, then I opened WA to read the messages, it went down by 1%. It just happened in less than 5 minutes.”

Some users on Twitter also reported that after updating to the latest version of iOS, the maximum capacity of their iPhone has reduced.

However, a report in Macworld claims that battery drainage problems are not uncommon after updating to a new version of iOS and that the new operating system causes multiple tasks such as re-scanning photos and performing background operations .

In a tweet in April 2022, Apple also confirmed that it is normal for your iPhone to drain battery after a new update, but the good news is that things should be back to normal in just 48 hours. Responding to a question about battery drainage on iOS 15.4, Apple Support wrote, “Thanks for reaching out! We’d be happy to help. It’s normal for your apps and features to need to be adjusted for up to 48 hours after an update.”

Sports tab in Apple News

iOS 16.5 adds a new Sports page to the Apple News app. Users will be able to follow their favorite sports teams, players and different leagues. Additionally, the My Sports Score and Schedule cards in Apple News will take users to game pages where they can find additional details about specific games.

In a release about the new feature, Apple said, “The Sports tab in Apple News provides easy access to stories, scores, standings and more for the teams and leagues you follow.”

Interestingly, an earlier version of iOS 16.5 beta came with a new Siri command to start and stop screen recording. The feature was removed in later beta versions and has been excluded from the final release of iOS 16.5.
