Shivraj Singh Chouhan secured over 1.64 lakh votes and is leading by a margin of close to 1.04 lakh votes. A margin of 1,04,974 votes is not just highest for the CM but also is the highest across assemblies in the state in the current election
Madhya Pradesh’s Budhni continues to shower its love on Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the leader won with the highest-ever victory margin and as well as the vote count. He secured over 1.64 lakh votes and won by a margin of 1.04 lakh votes.
This will be Chouhan’s fifth victory from Budhni who has held the seat since 2006.
His closest rival was television actor Vikram Matsal who was contesting from the Congress. Matsal secured 59,977 votes.
Highest-ever Victory Margin
In the 2006 bye-elections, Chouhan won the seats by more than 36,500 votes. In 2008, his victory margin improved to 41,525 votes. In 2013, he won the seat with his highest-ever margin of 84,805 votes. In the last election, the leader won Budhni with a margin of 58,999 votes.
A margin of 1,04,974 votes is not just highest for the chief minister but also is the highest across assemblies in the state in the current election.
Highest Number of Votes
The highest number of votes bagged by the leader stood at 1.28 lakh that he secured in 2013. In the last election, he bagged 1.23 lakh votes.
With 1,64,951 votes already in his account, the 64-year-old leader has shown his dominance not just on the seat but also in the state.
Famous as ‘Mama’, he has served as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh since 2005 with a small break between 2018 and 2020. He has already got the tag of the longest-serving Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Chouhan joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at the age of 13 in 1972. He took charge of the state as the CM in 2005 as he was also the BJP president. In December 2008, Chouhan was sworn in for his second term and in 2013 he started his third term. In 2018, when Congress bagged the assembly poll, Chouhan continued his hold over his seat. And in 2020, he got the chance to be the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for the fourth time.
As of 5 pm, BJP has won 21 seats in Madhya Pradesh, and is leading in another 145. Congress is also leading in 56 seats and has won seven.
