Woman school teacher suspended for attending poll rally in Odisha | Bhubaneswar News – Times of India

ODISHA: A female educator from a government-run school in Boudh, Odisha, has been suspended from her position by the district election officer-cum-district collector, according to an official notification released on Saturday.
The teacher, who works at the Government Nodal High School in Dahya, is alleged to have taken part in a political rally that took place two days prior, spanning from Palaspat to Ambagaon in the Kantamal assembly constituency, which is a violation of ECI rules.
The ECI order, dated March 15, 2024, along with the Odisha Government Servant’s Conduct Rules, 1959, clearly states that “no government servant shall be a member of or be otherwise associated with any political or communal party or any organisation which takes part in politics or communal activities, nor shall he/she take part or subscribe in aid of assist in any other manner, any political or communal movement or activity.”
The suspension of the teacher is effective immediately, as per the notification issued by J Sonal, the Boudh District Election Officer-cum-District Collector.
