Won’t Prefix Caste Identity Just For Votes: Cong Candidate Lakshmana | Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: Mysuru Congress candidate M Lakshmana, who is a Vokkaliga leader, on Friday said that he will not prefix his caste identity just to get votes. “Many leaders advised me to prefix ‘Gowda’ along with my name. But I will not do so. I am seeking votes on development issues,” he said.
Congress has fielded a Vokkaliga candidate in Mysuru Lok Sabha constituency for the first time since 1977.I have faced setbacks in the council elections. If I am defeated again, it will deal a death blow to me, he contended.
Speaking to reporters here, he said that as he exposed the corruption of BJP relentlessly, the party chose him for the LS election. I am looking for votes cutting across caste lines, he said. “The Mysuru royal family is known for uplifting social justice. Contribution of the royal family to the state is invaluable. I am sad that Yaduveer KC Wadiyar joined the BJP which is against all the values and ideals for which the royal family is known,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lakshmana continued to target Mysuru MP Pratap Simmha. I would like to know why BJP denied ticket to the incumbent MP Simmha. The BJP national leaders must clarify in this regard, he said. I was looking forward to a tussle with Simmha. However, the saffron party threw him out of the race. He has lost his wicket to hitwicket, he said.
He warned that if BJP returns to power at the Centre, democracy will be in danger. tnn
