Yards From Parents, Boy, 8, Killed By Tiger | Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: A class II student sitting at a distance from his parents who were harvesting chilli grown in their land in the district’s HD Kote taluk was mauled to death by a tiger just after Monday noon.
The boy has been identified as Charan Nayak, 8, son of Krishna Nayak, and Mahadevi Bai. A student of Siddapura government higher primary school, he had not attended classes on Monday.
Harshakumar Chikkanaragund, Director, Nagarahole Tiger Reserve, said the incident took place around 12.30pm and they were informed an hour later. “Immediately, our staff rushed to the spot in Kallahatti near Siddapura village in HD Kote taluk,” he said.
Sources said the tragedy occurred when Krishna Nayak and Mahadevi Bai couple were in their field. Charan was sitting on chilli bags. When the parents didn’t find their son, they started searching around in the village. Later, the boy’s body was found in a pool of blood near a bush, added sources.
As the news spread, MLA Anil Chikkamadu, senior forest officers rushed to the spot. The body was brought to the HD Kote taluk hospital for postmortem. Mysuru DDPI Pandu HK said they will extend financial support to his family.
