New Delhi: Former Finance Minister Yashwant SinhaHis tweet on a ‘big national cause’ has fueled fresh speculation about the opposition choosing him as their candidate for the upcoming presidential election.
Yashwant Sinha wrote on Twitter today, “I am grateful to Mamta ji for the honor and respect she has given me in TMC. Opposition unity. I am sure she accepts this move.”

CPI MP Binoy Viswam, who attended the meeting, said Mamata Banerjee had proposed the name of NCP’s Sharad Pawar as the opposition’s presidential candidate. Pawar did not accept that offer.
TMC, Congress, CPI, CPI(M), CPIML, RSP, Shiv SenaNCP, RJD, SP, National Conference, PDP, JD(S), DMK, RLD, IUML and JMM – participated in the meeting held at the Constitution Club of India here.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold a parliamentary board meeting here on Tuesday, where it is likely to finalize its selection for the July 18 elections, sources said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Virtually likely to attend the meeting.
The BJP has already constituted a 14-member management team to oversee the elections. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is the convener of this team.
BJP President JP Nadda held an important meeting on Sunday in which members of the management team were present to brainstorm on the upcoming elections.
The meeting was attended by senior leaders like Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Ashwini Vaishnav, G Kishan Reddy, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Vinod Tawde, CT Ravi, Sambit Patra and others.
Notably, Nadda and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh The candidate was entrusted with the responsibility of negotiating with all the political parties for the presidential election.
