Coimbatore: A 24-year-old young was found dead in an agricultural field in Kallampalayam Tirupur district of Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as M Ajit Kumar mettukattuvalasuHe was hit 16 times, including 14 on his neck.
Police said Ajith Kumar, who worked as a mechanic in a knitwear company at Padiyur near Kangayam, was arrested a few months ago under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. He came out on conditional bail two weeks back.
According to the police, Ajithkumar developed enmity with some jail inmates who came out on conditional bail and killed him. Tiruppur North Police has identified the killers and is trying to nab them.
The youth’s body was found by R Saminathan of Tirupur city in the farm he had taken on lease. The young man’s hands and feet were tied. He was lying soaked in blood.
The farmer informed Jayakumar, the Thottipalayam village administrative office, who in turn informed the Tiruppur North police.
A purse was found near the body. An Aadhaar card, a passport size photo and some papers were found in the purse. Police sent the body to Tiruppur Government Medical College Hospital for postmortem. They registered a case under section 302 (the killing) of the Indian Penal Code.
