Lucknow: In the middle of a scuffle with China coronavirus The average daily vaccinations in the city have increased by almost 300% in the past five days, following the pandemic and the steps taken by the central and state governments to deal with any possible outbreak in India.
According to the CoWIN portal, in the first 20 days of this month, on an average, around 112 people were being vaccinated daily, but in the last five days this number has increased to 429 per day.
This is when only four government hospitals are inoculating against Covid-19.
The highest five-fold increase was observed in the preventive dose category from 61 vaccinations per day. Along with this, the number of people taking the first dose has also doubled. However, the increase in mean double dose administration increased from 33 daily to only 15%.
According to experts, the demand for vaccine doses had come down due to a drop in Covid-19 cases, but now as China and other countries are witnessing a surge in people, fear is mounting, bringing them to vaccination centers going. He also suggested that the vaccination drive should be taken forward again.
District Immunization Officer Dr MK Singh said, “There is an overall increase, but most of the people coming for vaccination are between 18 and 59 years of age. He had taken two doses and was delaying giving a precautionary dose out of complacency.
“However, since the news of increase in Covid-19 started coming in, people are being vaccinated as a precaution. We have requested the state government to provide more doses of the vaccine and soon the number of centers will also be increased.
