8-year-old, 4 others shot 'almost execution style' in US' Texas: Report

The victims, who ranged in age from eight to 40, were scattered through the front door of the house.

Washington:

The local sheriff said Saturday that police are looking for a gunman who shot and killed five Hondurans, including an eight-year-old boy, at a Texas home.

US media reported that investigators believe the gunman was firing his AR-15-style gun into a neighboring yard when the victims asked him to stop as they were trying to put the child to sleep.

San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers described a terrifying scene when officers went to the residence after receiving a call about “harassment” around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

The victims, aged between eight and 40, were scattered through the front door into bedrooms inside the house, where two of them – both women – were found lying on top of two children who were survivors of the massacre.

“In my opinion, they were really trying to take care of the babies and keep them alive,” Capers told ABC’s Houston station KTRK.

All of the victims had been shot “almost execution style from the neck, basically in the head,” he said.

“He was drinking and he says, ‘I’ll do what I want to do in my front yard,'” Capers told KTRK.

“All the victims were from Honduras,” Capers told reporters. He said that 10 people were present in the house at that time.

He said officers believed they knew who the gunman was, describing him as a Mexican.

The sheriff’s office later said on its Facebook page that the shooter is believed to have left the county.

KTRK reported that residents were being asked to stay inside until the man was caught.
