Charles Darwin’s book ‘On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection’ was published.
Union Minister Subhash Sarkar on Saturday said that misleading propaganda is being spread over the removal of Darwin’s theory from the Class X science textbook of NCERT. Due to Corona, the burden of studies on children is being reduced. If a child wants to read Darwin’s theory, it is available on all websites.
Apart from this, this theory is also being taught in the syllabus of class 12th. In such a situation, there should not be false propaganda regarding the change in the syllabus. He said these things while talking to news agency ANI.
Scientists-teachers expressed concern by writing an open letter
In fact, recently the chapter related to Darwin’s theory was removed from the science books of Class X. After this, more than 1800 scientists and teachers from institutes like TIFR, IISER and IIT expressed concern by writing an open letter. After this the Union Minister has given this response.
He said that the NCERT had already announced last year to reduce the syllabus that the Heredity and Evolution chapter in the Class X Science book would be replaced by Heredity. Topics removed from the book include evolution, acquired and inherited traits, tracing evolutionary relationships, fossils, evolution by stage, evolution should be equated with progress, and human evolution.
Told in the Theory of Evolution – how we became humans from monkeys
On 24 November 1859, Charles Darwin’s book ‘On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection’ was published. There was a chapter in this book, ‘Theory of Evolution’. It was told in this, how we became humans from monkeys.
