Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that it is unfortunate that ‘select people in the present central government are unnecessarily peeping into the matters of the elected’.

Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Monday accused the AAP government of acting against the Constitution for not responding to his letters, saying Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was bound to respond to the Raj Bhavan.

Hours after Purohit’s remarks, Mann posted a video of the governor’s address on his Twitter handle to emphasize that Purohit had called the AAP-led state government “my government” on March 3 at the behest of the opposition in the House. have ceased to be referred to as

Mann asked the governor to explain why he had “failed” to discharge his constitutional duty by not using the words “my government” during his address.

The chief minister said it was unfortunate that “in the present central dispensation, select people are unnecessarily peeping into the affairs of elected people”.

In a statement, Mann alleged that undue hurdles were being raised to derail the smooth functioning of the state government.

The Aam Aadmi Party leader alleged that the “Governor’s” Raj Bhavan is now functioning as the state headquarters of the BJP, which is a very dangerous trend for Indian democracy.

Earlier speaking to reporters here, Purohit said that despite the Supreme Court’s direction in this regard, the Mann government has not replied to his letters.

“Not a single reply has been given to my 10 letters, they are working against the Constitution,” Purohit said.

Referring to the Supreme Court order, the governor said that according to the apex court, the state government is bound to provide the information sought by the governor.

“You know what is the direction of the Supreme Court. The SC said that it is 101 percent mandatory for the Chief Minister to answer whatever the Governor has asked. It is written in clear words (in order),” Purohit said.

The governor reminded that when he had sought information on some issues, the chief minister had said that his government was answerable only to 3 crore Punjabis.

In February, a dispute broke out between the governor and the AAP government after some details were sought, including the process of selecting 36 government school principals, for a training seminar in Singapore.

Later, the AAP government moved the Supreme Court accusing the governor of refusing to convene the assembly session.

When asked about CM Mann’s claim that the governor refused to refer to the state government as “my government” in his address to the assembly in March, Purohit said that he would like to see the AAP-led state government. has no hesitation in calling it “My Government”. ,

“I am the governor. All orders are issued in my name. Why would I not say so? I have no reservation. I say it not once, 50 times, this is my government.

Later, the CM posted the video on his Twitter handle and said that initially, the Governor had referred to the state government as “my government” in his address.

But at the behest of the opposition, the governor started calling the government. When I told you about the Supreme Court’s decision to say whatever is written, you started saying ‘my government’,” Mann said in his tweet.

Responding to a question about the special session called by the Punjab government on June 19 and 20, Purohit said he would give his permission. He said, ‘I have no problem.’
