Additional Collector Booked for Abusing RTI Applicant in Rajkot | Rajkot News – Times of India

Rajkot: Former additional collector of Surendranagar who is presently posted in Junagadh was booked for alleged criminal intimidation and hurling abuses at an RTI applicant from Keshod.
After primary investigation, the Keshod police converted the application of complaint submitted by Alpesh Trambadiya in April last year into an FIR and named the officer Darshana Bhaglani as the accused.According to his complaint, Trambadiya had filed several applications to seek information under the RTI Act about the Surendranagar district collector, and other officials as well regarding the use of government vehicles. Thereafter, he filed a complaint against the additional district collector with the general administration department and the CMO alleging the misuse of government vehicles.

Additional collector accused of abusing RTI applicant booked

Trambadiya alleged that he received a call from an unknown number on April 25 last year. The caller identified herself as Darshana Bhaglani, who allegedly hurled abusive words and threatened to chop his private parts.
According to sources, Bhaglani is currently serving in the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) in Junagadh district. When contacted, BC Thakkar, deputy superintendent of police, Keshod said, “The complainant first filed an application with Surendrangar district collector, and from there, it was forwarded to the police. We did the primary investigation, and thereafter registered the complaint.”
The complaint has been registered under IPC sections of 504 (insulting someone intentionally to provoke them) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation).

Beed district deputy collector Bharti Sagre and retired circle officer Navnath Sarvade were arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe in connection with the land acquisition for the Jayakwadi project. The complainant, a farmer from Kumbhari village, had not received compensation for his ancestral land. Sagre instructed him to meet Sarvade, who demanded a bribe.
