When NDRF And Thane Disaster Relief Force personnel pulled Pisal out of the debris around 8 am, he was conscious and thanked with folded hands for giving him a second life. His relatives and friends cheered while he was being taken to the hospital. They had kept Pisal’s six-month pregnant wife, Akila, in the dark about her being buried under the rubble. Pisal was loading goods in the godown when building Fell on Saturday. “I was trapped in a small gap between a wall and a broken slab. I was worried that no one would find me,” he told TOI. “When I heard the voice of rescue Team, I shouted for help. I will never forget this 20 hour ordeal.
NDRF Deputy Commandant Deepak Tiwari said, “We are happy that we were able to rescue Pisal even after 20 hours.” They said it was a pancake-style collapse Where pillars and supporting structures intersect. Due to lack of oxygen in such accidents, the chances of survival of the victims are very less.
The bodies of Sudhakar Gawai (34), who worked as a driver and was associated with MRK Foods, Triveni Yadav (40), a worker at the godown, and Pravin Chowdhary (22) were found on Sunday.
Yadav’s roommate Arun Singh told TOI, “Triveni was feeling unwell on Saturday and I asked her to leave work, but she insisted to go and lost her life.” Yadav’s aged mother, wife and two sons, aged 18 and 15, live in their hometown near Prayagraj in UP. Singh said that his sons would come to Mumbai to perform his last rites.
Praveen Chowdhary (22), a resident of UP’s Basti, was the only earning member of his family.
