Announcement Of Candidates Next Wk, Says State Cong Prez | Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: The INDIA bloc is expected to announce seat-sharing formula as well as details of their candidates next week, state party president Rajesh Thakur said on Sunday. He said, “All things have been finalised and you can expect an announcement of candidates next week, post Holi.”
Sources said that JMM-Congress-RJD alliance is understood to have agreed to fight on 7:5:1 ratio while one seat will be earmarked for the Left.
After returning from Delhi, Thakur held a news meet at party office where the Jharkhand Congress demanded Election Commission of India (ECI) to take cognizance of their plea against I-T department’s alleged freezing of their bank accounts in the wake of alleged tax evasion.
Talking to reporters, Thakur said that the funds crunch of the Congress nationally is also set to hit poll campaigning in Jharkhand, where the party is positioned to perform well in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
Jharkhand has 14 Lok Sabha seats. Last time Congress and JMM won one each, while the rest went to BJP-Ajsu-P combined.
“The mood of the nation is quietly changing due to the atrocities meted out to the opposition parties and non-BJP ruled states in the country by the BJP-led NDA regime. In Jharkhand, the INDIA bloc, which is also in power, is set to exhibit better poll results this time,” he said, adding that freezing of Congress’s bank accounts by I-T department in connection to an old case is at the behest of the BJP govt.
Asked whether party candidates will have to bear their own poll expenditure this time due to funds crunch, Thakur said, “In Congress, AICC takes care of poll expenditure, campaigning, travel of star campaigners, media and other publicity etc. Naturally, if the party is facing funds crisis, there will be certain impact on every states too. However, Jharkhand Congress is appealing to people to rise to the occasion by helping us with in whatever means they could to defeat BJP.” He also added that they will largely bank on social media and door to door campaigning as one of the means to reach people.
