Latehar Cops Seize ₹2.9l Cash From Car | – Times of India

Daltonganj: The Manika police in Latehar district intercepted a car and seized Rs 2,99,500 in cash at the inter-district check post with Palamu on Saturday night.
Latehar SP Anjani Anjan said, “Our personnel confiscated Rs 2,99,500 from a car (JH 01 EN 4483) at the the inter-district check post within the limits of the Manika police station. But we neither seized the vehicle nor detained any of its occupants.”
Police have informed the nodal officer of the Income Tax department. “The occupants of the car failed to produce any document or evidence to support the cash. They said the cash was given by a person in Palamu, who had owed them the money,” the SP added. SP Anjani said, “The Latehar district police have recovered 17kg opium valued at Rs 85 lakh, 42kg marijuana worth Rs 21 lakh, and 1,690kg poppy straw with a market price of Rs 2.53 crore since March 16, when the MCC came into effect. Four country-made pistols and 11 rounds of fire have also been seized during the period.”
