Bbmp Floats Tenders To Procure Shoes & Bags For Students | Bengaluru News – Times of India

Bengaluru: BBMP has set in process the procurement of shoes and bags for students of its schools and colleges, so that they are provided without delay in the 2024-25 academic year.
The civic body floated a tender for this on March 11.
While the tender closes on March 25, work orders are likely to be issued early June, once the model of code of conduct ends, civic officials said. BBMP is off the blocks early this year as it was unable to provide shoes to students at the beginning of last academic year. The civic body procured shoes from the state-run Leather Industries Development Corporation in Oct and Nov of 2023.
According to Palike officials, an attempt was made to purchase shoes through private agencies last year and twice, tenders were floated. But no bidder showed interest. So, BBMP procured shoes and socks from Lidkar.
Officials are confident they will find bidders this time and will distribute shoes and bags on time. The successful bidder will get 30 days to supply shoes and bags.
According to BBMP sources, they’ll procure 20,619 pairs of brown canvas shoes with socks, 15,523 black shoes with socks, and 15,523 bags. The shoes will be given to students of 93 nursing schools, 16 primary schools, 33 high schools, and four PU colleges. The bags will be given to students of nursery, primary and high schools.
