Patna: CM of Bihar Nitish Kumar Jammu on Tuesday expressed deep grief over the death of pilgrims from the state in a bus accident this morning and announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh each to the next of kin of the victims hailing from the state.

Nitish also directed the Resident Commissioner of Bihar (in New Delhi) to coordinate with J&K government officials and make necessary arrangements for proper treatment of all injured pilgrims coming from Bihar. He also asked the Resident Commissioner to extend all possible help to the pilgrims.

Police officials in Jammu told mediapersons that the bus traveling from Amritsar to Katra met with an accident in Jhajjar Kotli area on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. The bus skidded on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and rolled off a bridge over a rivulet at Jajjar Kotli between 6.30 am and 7 am on Tuesday, Jammu police said.
