“Born out of a need for affordable storage for everyone” – Times of India

Established in 2020, Digibox ‘Made in India’ warehousing as a service for individuals and businesses. DigiBoxx allows registered users to share, store and track their assets. HDFC Life, Jio, Proburst and Schneider Electric are among the many companies that have partnered with DigiBoxx for their cloud services. In conversation with Times of India Tech, digiboxx cto Abhijeet Ray Talks about the company, the competition and more
What sets DigiBoxx apart from the competition?
DigiBoxx was born out of a need for affordable storage for everyone. Today almost everyone creates digital content on their phones, computers and other personal digital devices. This has given rise to fragmented offline storage and created the need for a cloud-based central repository that can be accessed from any connected device. Following this requirement requires an economical cloud storage Option, which is not available in the Indian market.
There are major players in this space in the world today, but no one has thought about the regular, everyday people in India who also have a digital footprint but don’t have a big budget for cloud storage. That’s where DigiBoxx comes in. Our free plan offers ample storage space of 20GB and the paid packages are very affordable for everyone, regardless of their economic status.
Where are DigiBoxx data centers located?
We currently have multiple data centers in Noida, Mumbai and Indore. That said, we are looking to expand further. In addition, we also have offices in Mumbai, Gurugram, Gurgaon, Bengaluru and Kolkata. Kolkata, in particular, has been our recent expansion and has become a major distribution hub for us. We are actively hiring local talent for the hub there.
Who is your target audience?
In all honesty, our target is everyone. To be more precise, anyone who has a phone is our audience. If you visit our website, you will find two main types of packages:
Personal: This package is for people from all walks of life. This will include individuals – who want to store and share their personal data, photos or videos – freelancers, content creators and gig workers who want to store and share their digital assets for their work or profession.
Although SMB stands for small and medium businesses, it is actually for all types of businesses, regardless of their size. We cater to everyone’s needs, thus DigiBoxx can be scalable to meet the needs of an organization. All types of operations such as collaboration and campaigns require all businesses to store and share digital files or documents. For example, our SMB package can be used as a highly scalable Digital Asset Management (DAM) solution for creative agencies.
Recently, DigiBoxx introduced DigiPhotos feature. Can you tell us more about this new feature and how it benefits DigiBoxx users?
DigiFotos is a feature that allows individual users to automatically synchronize photos and videos stored on their smartphones with DigiBoxx. This is an invaluable feature as we all face the problem of ‘low storage’ in our handsets. Individuals do not deal with the loss of personal memories in case of theft or physical damage.
DigiFotos is much more than just an auto backup feature. Media files can be edited directly within DigiFotos and instantly shared to social media without the need for other apps. It’s that simple. There are also other features that allow users to synchronize data over Wi-Fi to save precious mobile bandwidth and premium subscribers can also set a password and an expiry date for web links etc.
Does DigiBoxx offer cross-platform support? How easy is it for users to access their accounts?
DigiBoxx is accessible to anyone with internet access and a web browser – be it a PC, laptop or mobile device. Just need to enter your name and email id to register. User will receive an email with instructions to activate their account and set a password. That’s it. Now user can sign-up for DigiBoxx through web browser and app, which is available for Android and iOS devices.
What else can we expect to see from DigiBoxx in the near future?
Oh, we’ve only just begun. Right now, we have DigiBoxx on the web and its corresponding Android app. We’ve just launched the iOS app for iPhone users and introduced a file versioning feature that allows for multiple versions of a file to be kept. Next, we are on the verge of launching a Windows desktop app that will allow users to automatically synchronize their computer’s content with their DigiBoxx account. We’re constantly listening to user feedback, so we know we have many users waiting for the desktop app to be released.
