Guwahati: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Has proposed more wings to take up air connectivity and aviation basic infrastructure To new heights in the North East.

Subansiri Lower Project (NHPC) Grant for Downstream Safety
Sitharaman has also proposed an allocation of Rs 56.98 crore for expenditure on downstream protection work of the controversial Subansiri Lower Project (NHPC). As per a decision taken at the NITI Aayog meeting in 2019, the cost of downstream protection work of the Subansiri Lower Project is to be borne by the Centre.

Sitharaman has also proposed to increase the subsidy payable for the North Eastern region to Rs 1633.02 crore from last year’s Rs 811 crore. The provision has been made for subsidy on account of freight subsidy and subsidy on LPG and kerosene for PDS, dues of previous years for payment to oil companies on account of subsidy for supply of natural gas in the region.
