Badrinath highway has been closed due to debris coming from the hill in Bajpur of Kotwali Chamoli area.
There is heavy snowfall in Kedarnath and Badrinath. At the same time, due to rain in the low-lying areas, big stones got accumulated on the road. Due to which the Char Dham Yatra was stopped late at night. Passengers are being appealed to stay in nearby cities. According to officials, checking points have been set up near NIT Uttarakhand and near Badrinath bus stand where Char Dham Yatris are being stopped.
SHO Srinagar, Ravi Saini said, In Srinagar Garhwal police have set up checking points near NIT Uttarakhand and near Badrinath bus stand where Char Dham Yatris are being stopped and those who have booked online for night stay will be taken to Rudraprayag Will be allowed to go towards. SOP has been issued for pilgrims
Earlier on Saturday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had on Friday advised pilgrims to plan their pilgrimage only after passing all medical tests, including those for COVID-19. The Chief Minister said that an SOP has been issued by the State Government and those undertaking the pilgrimage this year need to follow it.
It is believed about the Yamunotri temple that Maharaja Pratapshah of Tehri Garhwal had built the temple of Goddess Yamuna.
The doors opened on Thursday, the first worship was done in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As soon as the doors of Badrinath Dham opened for pilgrims on Thursday morning, the first puja was performed in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The portals of Badrinath Dham opened amidst the recitation of Vedic verses. Thousands of devotees were present to witness the formal inauguration of the holy temple. The process of opening the doors started at 4 am on Thursday. Officials said that Kuber-ji, Shri Uddhav-ji and Gadu Ghada were brought into the temple premises from the south gate.
