Haveri: The Congress party was born out of lies. After the country gained Independence, the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi advocated the dissolution of the Congress. Without doing it, they continued telling lies, claimed former chief minister and Haveri Lok Sabha constituency’s BJP candidate Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking to reporters at Haralahalli in the Ranebennur assembly constituency on Sunday, Bommai slammed chief minister Siddaramaiah for his statement that every BJP leader was a liar.”The Congress party has been telling lies. Former PM Indira Gandhi launched ‘Gareebi Hatao’ but poverty still prevails in the country. What more evidence is required to establish that the Congress leaders were liars?” he questioned.
Bommai said the filing of nomination papers for the first phase of polling in Karnataka had ended and the field was ready.
“BJP has received a tremendous response in the first phase. Seeing the movement of CM Siddaramaiah, it looks that he was scared that the Congress would be defeated in the LS polls due to which he was moving even in small lanes” he commented.
