Nagpur: A constable from Yashodhara police station was suspended while another three from the police headquarters too are likely to face action for dereliction of duty at Garib Nawaz Nagar where a riot-like situation had emerged following a group clash between two communities on January 22.
TOI had reported there was no police presence at the sensitive pockets of Garib Nawaz Nagar having history of riots on the day when the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla idol took place in Ayodhya.

Post the clash which had occurred over bursting of crackers, the cops are installing CCTV cameras near the Shitala devi temple which was the epicentre of the incident.
An inquiry by zonal DCP Niketan Kadam found that four cops posted at the spot near the temple were not present there. The DCP has already sent a report to DCP (Headquarters) Ashwini Patil regarding the three cops from the headquarters but no action had been initiated till the time of going to press.
While sources stated at least 12 persons were injured in the clash, police claimed five persons were injured.
City police chief Amitesh Kumar along with Jt CP Aswati Dorje and other senior officials including DCP Kadam had to intervene to bring the situation under control. A video of Kumar seen issuing stern warning to a mob too had gone viral.
Offences were registered at Yashodhara Nagar police station against two different groups.
A similar tension had taken place between two groups at Mominpura the same day. There were no injuries in the incident as police had managed to prevent a flare-up.
