Cops seek inquiry report from civic body, may probe officials | Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: The officials against whom the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) recently took action concerning the Harni boat tragedy may also face the police probe. The cops have sought the report of an inquiry conducted by the VMC in the boat capsizing incident.
The civic body recently terminated futuristic cell’s additional assistant engineer (AAE) Mitesh Mali and suspended Jigar Sayaniya who is AAE of the north zone and issued show cause notices to six officials.The action was taken against the officials as the officials failed in their duty of supervising the project.
“We have sought the inquiry report from the VMC. The investigators will go through the report and if we find any criminal negligence, we will book the concerned officials,” said Anupamsinh Gahlaut, city police commissioner. With all 20 accused in police custody, the cops are now gathering evidence against them so that a strong case can be made in court.
Twelve children and two school teachers had died after their boat capsized in Harni lake on January 18.
