Opening bell: Sensex rise marginally, Nifty touch fresh new high – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Sensex started in green on Wednesday as it climbed around 50 points to 73,108 at BSE in early morning trade. Nifty as well rose by 51.05 to and registered a fresh new high.
Earlier, Nifty settled at a new record high on Tuesday, with banking stocks leading the gains, while the Sensex settled just below its record peak. Nifty closed up 75 points or 0.3% at 22,197, and the Sensex closed 349 points or 0.5% higher at 73,057. Both indices have seen gains for six consecutive sessions.
Among sectors, there was mixed activity, with buying observed in banking, financials, and realty sectors.
Domestic fund buying drove day’s gains, with a net inflow of Rs 1,491 crore, according to BSE data. However, foreign funds were net sellers at Rs 1,336 crore.
BSE’s market cap saw a slight decline of about Rs 30,000 crore to Rs 397.8 lakh crore or approximately $4.8 trillion, as per official data.
Siddhartha Khemka of Motilal Oswal Financial Services said that the domestic market continued its upward trend, but the broader market ended in the red.
Market participants are anticipating a pre-poll rally. Khemka mentioned that globally, investors are awaiting the release of the US Federal Open Market Committee meeting minutes for insights into the US Fed’s future direction.
