Microsoft first introduced Cortana as a part of Windows 10 in 2015. With voice commands, users could set reminders, open applications, and ask questions.
However, over the years, Microsoft has slowly removed Cortana from the Windows experience. With the release of Windows 11, the digital assistant lost its place on the taskbar and was not even part of the first boot experience. In 2020, Microsoft discontinued the Cortana app on iOS and Android and ended support for Cortana on other devices such as surface headphones.
Even though Cortana will not be available in Windows, it will still be accessible in Outlook Mobile, Microsoft Teams Mobile, Teams Display and Teams Room.
Microsoft hasn’t said the exact date of Cortana’s removal from Windows is unknown.
