However, she was in love with Jitendra and they eloped a week before her wedding day. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone-2, Bhagirath Gadhvi told TOI: “Himmat’s father Vamana and Kalyani’s father Ravindra are siblings. After eloping she started living with Jitendra. Incidentally, his house is in the same society where Himmat and his family lived.
“Himmat was extremely ashamed and angry at running away from his home and getting married against the wishes of the family. When the couple decided to get married as per the tradition of the community, he took advantage of the opportunity and forced the couple to tie the knot. decided to kill him a day before,” Gadhvi said.
The DCP said, “Prima facie, it is a case of honor killing. But we are probing from all angles. We are also probing whether Kalyani’s family members or any other person was involved in plotting the crime.” ” Limbayat police inspector VA Jograna said, “Since their marriage was not legal at the temple, they decided to conduct the marriage ceremony on June 27.”
