Damodar Rout, Veteran Bjd Leader, Dies At 82 | Bhubaneswar News – Times of India

Bhubaneswar: Damodar Rout, a seven-time former MLA and ex-minister in the BJD govt, died at a private hospital, here on Friday, a day after he suffered a massive heart attack. He was 82 years old.
“Saddened by the demise of veteran leader Shri Damodar Rout who served as a minister several times in the Odisha government. Shri Rout’s contribution to the progress of Odisha and the country will always be remembered.My deepest condolences to his family members and followers,” President Droupadi Murmu posted on X, expressing her grief on his demise.
Chief minister Naveen Patnaik paid his last respects to Dama and said his commitment to people’s welfare will always be remembered.
Dama’s son Sambit Routray, a BJD MLA from Paradip, said his father was not keeping well for the past few months. On Thursday he complained of chest pain, following which, he was hospitalised.
