Ara: The CPI-ML, which has fielded its two-time Tarari MLA Sudama Prasad against Union power minister R K Singh in Ara Lok Sabha constituency, took out a ‘Save democracy, save Constitution’ march on Sunday. The march that started from the eastern railway crossing culminated at Ambedkar Chowk at Ara. It was led by the national general secretary of CPI-ML Dipankar Bhattacharya.
Addressing the party workers, Bhattacharya said, “The upcoming is not only for electing a new Union govt, but also to save the country’s democracy and Constitution. Today, democracy is at stake in our country. Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar not only gave the country Constitution and reservations for the downtrodden, but also cautioned against the idea of a Hindu Rashtra in India.”
Hitting out at the BJP’s slogan of ‘Abki baar 400 paar’, Bhattacharya said, “The slogan of the BJP will meet the same fate as the slogan of ‘India shining’ that was coined by the party under Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2004.”
Union power minister Singh also garlanded the statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar at the Ambedkar Colony here on his birth anniversary.
Earlier, Singh held a meeting at Ara with the traders and intellectuals of his constituency. Addressing the traders, Singh said, “In the Lok Sabha elections, people will elect a leader who will lead the country on the path of development. There is no PM face in the opposition camp. On the contrary, the NDA has a PM like Narendra who has ensured unprecedented development in the country. Till 2013, India was the 15th largest economy in the world. Today, under the leadership of Modiji, our country has become the fifth largest economy. In the next couple of years, India will become the third largest economy in the world.”
