Kanpur: An FIR has been registered against Congress candidate from Kanpur Lok Sabha -Alok Mishra, Samajwadi party MLA Amitabh Bajpai, besides three others including Sanjay Yadav, Oma and Ravi Singh and 200 unidentified persons on Saturday night.
On Eid, SP functionary Samrat Vikas Yadav was accused of putting up political banners and distributing ‘lassi’ and water in front of Armapur Eidgah.And when the police stopped him, he and his supporters started misbehaving with the policemen. It is alleged that the SP functionary and his supporters also tried to instigate people to offer namaz on the road after which police registered a case against them for violating the Model Code of Conduct and obstructing government work and arrested his.
After getting information about Samrat’s arrest, SP MLA Amitabh Bajpai and INDIA alliance’s Lok Sabha candidate Alok Mishra also reached there. They along with the SP workers staged a protest demanding immediate release of Samrat. The SP MLA also had a heated argument with ACP Tej Bahadur Singh, who reached the spot.
Additional deputy commissioner of police Vijyendra Dwivedi said that the investigation of the case has been done. “In a serious case, observation of the video has proved that the law was violated,” he said.
He further said that it is clear in the video that despite the Model Code of Conduct for the Lok Sabha elections being in force and Section 144 being implemented in the entire Commissionerate, the above persons came to the Panki police station without prior permission and staged an unauthorized protest by talking in aggressive language. “A demonstration was held, due to which the work of the government was disrupted for more than an hour and public servants were hindered in discharging their public duties,” he said.
The official added, “Due to the festival of Eid, all the gazetted officers were on duty in their respective allotted areas and following the indefinite protest by the above mentioned persons, all three gazetted officers and QRT (Quick Response Team) police force had to leave their duty area and rush to Panki police station, due to which the work in other police station areas was also affected. Apart from this, investigation has found that the above-mentioned persons and their supporters have used indecent, malicious and hurtful language.”
