CD Jayanna, DDPU of Dakshina Kannada, credited the success to the collective efforts of lecturers and students.“Apart from securing the first rank consecutively, the district has also been improving its pass percentage. In the 2021-22 academic year, a year after the pandemic, the pass percentage was 82, and after two years, it has reached 97.3%, a significant increase,” shared Jayanna.
Jayanna highlighted the district’s proactive initiatives as the key factors for the success. These initiatives included visiting every college in the district, holding meetings with management, and conducting subject-wise workshops for lecturers.
The workshops encouraged lecturers to maintain good rapport with students and dedicate more time to them, which has helped even govt colleges that typically record poor results.
Moreover, the introduction of internal assessment (IA) and multiple choice questions (MCQs) have played a significant role in improving the overall results. Fr Clifford Sequeira, principal of St Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru, emphasised that the introduction of IA for non-practical subjects such as commerce and arts, which carries 20 marks, has greatly benefited students in scoring well and passing the exam.
Sources from govt PU colleges further revealed that many colleges have achieved 100% results, contributing to the district’s outstanding performance in the II PU exams.
