Facebook job cuts hit India: Teams affected and more – Times of India

These job cuts are part of 10,000 global layoffs announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg In March this year. According to a report, the latest reduction in the number of employees has also affected the Indian operations of the company.

News agency IANS reported that Avinash Pant, India Marketing Director; Saket Jha Saurabh, Director, Media Partnership; and Amrita Mukherjee, Director, Legal, Meta India are among those who have been laid off. Prior to joining Meta, Mukherjee held the position of Head of Legal at Hotstar.

The latest round of job cuts is at all levels at Meta. Citing sources, the report said that the global layoffs have affected employees in marketing, administration, human resources and other departments in India.
It is to be noted that in the last job cut round all vertical teams of Meta India were also impacted.

Zuckerberg announced in March this year that the company was planning to eliminate 10,000 roles. The downsizing is part of META’s “Year of Efficiency”.

According to a report in Vox, Meta President of Global Affairs Nick Clegg During a town hall, employees were told that “the third wave is coming next week.”
“It is a time of great anxiety and uncertainty,” Clegg was quoted as saying
“I wish I had some easy way to provide consolation or comfort. It’s uncertain. Demonstrating resilience and professionalism,” he said.
The 10,000 job cuts come after the company announced plans to cut more than 11,000 jobs in January 2022. Zuckerberg had said the second round would happen in three “moments” over several months, roughly ending in May.
