Varanasi: A five-day training programme was organized under the joint aegis of the blood centre, Sir Sunderlal Hospital, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University and Uttar Pradesh AIDS Control Society, from December 18 to 22. The objective of this programme was to strengthen the system of blood centres in the entire Uttar Pradesh. The lab technicians of the blood centres from every district of UP took part in the training programme.

Government proposes 19.5 lakh crore national highway development programme
The road transport ministry has proposed a programme to build and widen around 41,000 km of national highways, including 15,000 km of high speed (access-controlled) corridors, by 2031-32. This will require an investment of Rs 19.5 lakh crore. The projects under the first phase of the proposed master plan for highway development will be bid out by 2028-29 and completed by 2031-32. The average travel speed on the NH network will almost double from the current 47 kmph to 85 kmph. The government aims to bring down the logistics cost to 9-10% of the GDP.
