Five injured in brawl between residents, guards in Charholi | Pune News – Times of India

Pune: Three residents and two security guards were injured. Charholi An altercation broke out between residents of a residential complex and guards of neighboring under-construction sites at around 1.15 am on Tuesday. Two residents are seriously injured and are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
None Police arrested 10 guards based on a complaint by a resident and charged them with attempted murder and other charges.
A cross-complaint of assault was lodged against three residents by a guard. The residents have been booked under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons and means) and other relevant Indian Penal Code section.
Citing preliminary probe, police said the residents were returning home from a late-night party when they saw a group of men near the security guard’s cabin of their society. According to a resident’s complaint, the guards misbehaved when the residents asked them why they had gathered. Video evidence shows that in the ensuing exchange of words, residents hurled abuses at the guards, while some others tried to pacify them.
“By the time our team reached the society, things went out of control as a brawl broke out between three residents and the guards,” said the senior inspector. Mahindra Pandit Dighi police told TOI.
When contacted, the resident told TOI that incidents of mobile phone snatching and other robberies had been witnessed in his society recently, and hence he inquired about those. “The guards not only misbehaved with us but also beat us mercilessly. Two of my neighbors are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. One has 11 stitches on his head and the other has eight stitches. One of them I also lost my gold chain during the attack. My left hand is fractured,” the complainant said.
Pandit said that a guard alerted the police. “They should have waited for the police. A security guard, in his cross-complaint, stated that when he tried to intervene, he was assaulted by the residents. This complainant and another guard suffered leg injuries.”
