Hello,

Yesterday’s big news was heavy rains in the northwestern states. The rains caused extensive damage in many areas of Punjab, Himachal, Haryana and Chandigarh. Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Ministers of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh and assured help to both the states.

But before tomorrow’s big news, today’s major events, which will be watched…

  1. The petition filed regarding the Manipur violence will be heard in the Supreme Court. In the last hearing, the court had asked the state government to submit a status report. Also asked what steps are being taken to stop the violence.
  2. Delhi government’s petition against the Centre’s ordinance will be heard in the Supreme Court. Through an ordinance, the Central Government has given the powers related to transfer-posting of officers in Delhi to the Lieutenant Governor.
  3. Panchayat elections will be held again in 6 districts of West Bengal. These include 604 booths in Malda, Murshidabad, Purulia, Birbhum, Jalpaiguri and South 24 Parganas. There were incidents of ballot box tampering and violence.

1. Rain breaks record in Delhi; Bridges and vehicles washed away in Himachal; Boat ride in the society of Punjab

Haryana has released more than one lakh cusecs of water from Hathinikund barrage into Yamuna river. After which the Delhi government has issued a flood warning. The rain in the capital has broken the record of 41 years. All schools in Delhi and Himachal will remain closed today. At the same time, there is an order to keep schools closed in Gurugram in Haryana and Ropar in Punjab.

In Himachal, a bridge was washed away in the Beas river. Many shops got submerged in the flood water. The water of Ghaggar river entered the society in Mohali, Punjab. People were taken out by boat. Northern Railway has canceled 17 trains and diverted 12.

Why this news is important: The low-lying areas near the Yamuna river in Delhi are vulnerable to floods, where more than 37,000 people live. The water level of Yamuna river may cross the danger mark on Tuesday. Till July 9, the country should have received 239 mm of rain, but has received 243 mm. This is 2% more than normal. Rainfall is 59% more than normal in northwest India and 4% more in central India. But South India is deficient by 23% while eastern and northeastern states are deficient by 17%.

2. Pakistan threatens to boycott the World Cup; Said- the team will not go to India
Pakistan has threatened not to participate in the World Cup starting in India from 5 October. Here Sports Minister Ehsan Mazari said that India should drop the demand of playing the Asia Cup match at neutral venue, otherwise we will not go to India to play in the World Cup.

Why this news is important: India and Pakistan will be played in Ahmedabad on 15 October. On the other hand, the Asian Cricket Council has decided to hold the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and Pakistan before the World Cup. There will be 4 matches of the tournament in Pakistan. The remaining 9 matches will be held in Sri Lanka. That means India will not have a single match in Pakistan. That is why Pakistan is angry.

3. Vande Bharat will now be of saffron colour; Railway Minister said – 25 changes were also made in the new train

Railway has changed the color of Vande Bharat Express train. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the new train will be of saffron color instead of blue. Which is inspired by the tricolor. Vande Bharat 25 minor-big changes have been made on the basis of the feedback received from the people.

Why this news is important: Currently 25 Vande Bharat trains are running in the country. 2 trains are kept in reserve. The 28th train coming after them has been given saffron colour. The seat of the new Vande Bharat has been fitted with better cushions and its angle has also been corrected. Access to mobile charging points has been improved. The foot rest has been increased in the executive chair car. Reading light has been improved.

4. 45 thousand policemen in Manipur divided into Kuki and Meitei; going to their respective regions
Manipur’s police force with more than 45 thousand strength has divided into two factions. The police belonging to the Meitei community are going towards the Imphal Valley and the police from the Kuki community towards the mountains. The new police chief of the state, Rajeev Singh, currently has the responsibility of restoring peace.

Why this news is important: Police officials said that cases were being reported in which police personnel were helping mobs to loot arms and ammunition kept at police stations and security camps. To deal with this, Rajiv Singh sent a message to all the security forces to keep a strict vigil and prevent such incidents from happening.

They raised slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram. During this, a placard was seen in his hand, on which it was written- ‘Khalistani Sikhs nahi hote’.

Why this news is important: After the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Khalistani supporters had announced to take out ‘Kill India’ rally outside the Indian missions in the US, UK and Canada. However, the rally of the Khalistanis paled in front of the demonstrations and sloganeering by the Indians.
