Police Commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu Said, “On July 6, a headless body wrapped in several gunny bags was found in the middle of the road in Adarsh Nagar. Police found Pankaj Sharma’s Aadhaar card and a debit card from the pocket of the deceased. Initially the police thought that the victim was Pankaj Sharma, but it was suspected that the Aadhaar card may have been deliberately kept in the victim’s pocket.
The victim’s head was beheaded to hide her identity. However, the police started tracing Pankaj Sharma.” When the police reached the address mentioned on the Aadhaar card, the residents said that Pankaj had shifted elsewhere. The police traced his new address and found that he has also left. However, the residents there told the police that the picture on the Aadhaar card was of someone named Sanjay and not Pankaj. This led the police to consider the possibility of the Aadhaar card being forged, says Sidhu he said.
The police also got footage from the CCTV camera of the bike which was used to dispose of the body. They traced the bike and reached the accused. “When the police caught the accused, he turned out to be the same person whose Aadhaar card was found in the pocket of the deceased. On questioning, he spilled all the secrets.” The accused disclosed that he had killed many people but was never arrested Went. He wanted to change his identity, for which he started introducing himself as Sanjay and Saajan to different people,” Sidhu said.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Rural Jaskiranjit Singh TejaAbout six months back, the accused got the idea of faking his death. “About two months ago, Pankaj saw Ram Prasad at Labor Chowk, Tajpur Road. His physical appearance was similar to that of Pankaj, so Pankaj befriended him and started drinking with him regularly. On July 3, Pankaj Ram Prasad was taken to his house in Adarsh Nagar, where they drank together. When Ram Prasad got drunk, Pankaj tied his hands with a rope and glued his lips. Then he cut off Ram Prasad’s head with a saw. cut off his fingers. He wrapped the fingers and severed the head and put the torso in another sack. The torso and head were kept in bed for three days. On July 6, Pankaj and Neha took the body to Adarsh Nagar while the head and fingers were thrown in the garbage dump in front of Vardhman Chowk,” he said.
He said Pankaj chopped off the victim’s head and fingers so that the fingerprints could not be used to verify the Aadhaar card.
