Fraud of ₹ 99 lakh from the businessman by giving the greed of high returns. Surat News – Times of India

Surat: Fed up with the lure of 5% returns every month on gold investment, a Vesu resident suffered a loss of Rs 99 lakh in the devious cheating scheme of cyber miscreants.
Surat crime branch has registered a case against three people including a woman in the case of cheating. Bharat Thakkar, a CNG kit dealer in the city. Police have registered a case of cyber fraud against Deesa resident Sanjay Soni and his wife Pari along with Surat resident Vrishil Vohra.
As per the details of the case, Thakkar sells CNG kits from his office in Vesu locality. He had come in contact with Pari Vohra three years ago when her office was in Katargam. Pari used to run a clothes shop with her father near Thakkar’s shop. Over the years, their acquaintance turns into a family relationship and Pari becomes almost like Thakkar’s daughter. In 2021, Pari got married to Deesa resident Sanjay Soni.
After the marriage, Pari told Thakkar that her husband had three jewelery shops in Deesa.
In January 2022, Pari came to Thakkar’s office in Vesu along with her husband Sanjay and brother Vrishil Vohra. They told Thakkar about a lucrative gold investment scheme and lured him with a return of 5% per month.
After this Sanjay would make a video call to Thakkar and show him the gold biscuits.
When all three started frequenting Thakkar’s shop for investment, he started investing in the scheme and transferred Rs 25 lakh to Pari’s account and Rs 25 lakh to Vrishil’s account. He also sent Rs 49 lakh to Sanjay Soni through Angadiya.
After investing the money, when Thakkar asked for the gold, the accused started evasive and started making excuses. He also threatened to file a false case against him. Thakkar also came to know that the trio had given the same plan to many others and cheated them as well.
He lodged a complaint with the police on 12 July.
